In a strategic move reflecting its dedication to sustainability and growth, Actis Insulation has bolstered its specification team with the appointment of Elijah Peters, a seasoned architectural technician. This calculated addition aims to enhance support for architects, merchants, builders, and building control officers across the South West, West Midlands, and South Wales, thereby strengthening Actis’ presence and influence in these regions.
Elijah Peters brings a robust background to Actis, holding an MSc in architecture and design technology. His previous experience encompasses roles as a CAD designer and project manager at an architectural practice in the home counties, as well as a project management specialist in the Midlands. This extensive expertise positions him to effectively advocate for Actis products, particularly to architects, timber framers, loft converters, and housing developers, highlighting their benefits and applications.
Peters’ fervour for sustainability resonates with Actis’ core values. He stated, “My vision for Actis is growth. As a company that prioritises sustainability, eco-friendliness, and cost-effectiveness, it’s only a matter of time before Actis gains global recognition. The company’s alignment with my core values made my decision to join seamless, and my academic background equips me to support my colleagues effectively.”
Actis has long been a trailblazer in the construction industry, offering products that are both high-performing and eco-friendly. The company’s commitment to sustainability is evidenced by its ongoing efforts to educate the industry through its CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programmes. Elijah will join specification managers Amaret Chahal and Jason Docherty in delivering Actis’ popular CPDs, including two RIBA-approved modules, to building control firms, architectural practices, and at LABC’s monthly roadshows.
The RIBA-approved Part L CPD module stands out for its comprehensive approach, detailing methods to enhance U-values, reduce thermal bridging, address the performance gap, and improve air tightness. The module also explores preventing issues like overheating, ensuring a balanced outcome. This CPD has garnered acclaim from industry professionals. Nick Fisher, a CAD technician at EK Architects in Pattiswick, Essex, whose team was among the first to book the CPD, lauded the presentation’s excellence. He remarked, “The team was highly impressed with the presentation. It’s rare to find a CPD that offers concrete solutions. We are now committed to using Actis products, so thank you for enlightening us. Expect a surge in requests for calculations!”
Amaret Chahal, another pivotal member of the specification team, creatively used her enthusiasm for the Great British Bake Off to illustrate various compliance approaches. She explained, “We wanted to demonstrate the different targets achievable through a recipe approach. If a cupcake represented a house, the limiting value is the minimum thermal value, akin to a basic vanilla cupcake. The notional value, representing a higher but more challenging thermal rating, is like a top-tier cupcake with elaborate decorations.
“Just as we have a variety of cupcakes made from different ingredients, houses can be constructed with diverse specifications to meet a range of targets.”
Mark Cooper, Actis UK and Ireland sales director, highlighted the growing demand for Actis products and the necessity of expanding the team. He stated, “As the popularity of Actis products increases, so does our team. Our technical support and specification expertise are highly sought after, and our CPDs are essential for guiding the construction industry towards net zero. Expanding the team to educate current and future construction professionals is a natural progression to help us build more sustainably.”
Elijah’s appointment underscores Actis’ unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability. His expertise and passion position the company to continue its growth and make significant advancements in the construction industry. As Elijah embarks on this new chapter with Actis, his vision for growth and sustainability will undoubtedly propel the company to new heights.
Elijah’s diverse interests, including travel and exploring new activities, further enrich his profile. His dedication to sustainability, coupled with his professional acumen, makes him a valuable asset to the Actis team. With Elijah on board, Actis is set to maintain its trajectory of growth and innovation, solidifying its status as a leader in the construction industry.
Actis’ dedication to sustainability and innovation is palpable through its CPD programmes and the recruitment of skilled professionals like Elijah. As the company continues to expand its team and product portfolio, it remains steadfast in its mission to foster a more sustainable future for the construction industry.
